Brie Larson in early talks to play alpha-female superhero Captain Marvel
LOS ANGELES — Brie Larson is in early talks to play Carol Danvers/a.k.a Captain Marvel, one of the most powerful characters in all of the comic book and cinematic superhero universes who's never been portrayed onscreen before, according to a Wednesday report in Variety.

Carol Danvers is the closest thing Marvel has to Superman — in fact, the former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot's early comic-book derivative was tweaked for being too similar to the Man of Steel — and will be a major presence once she finally hits theaters with a standalone in 2019, or more likely before, when Infinity War Part 1 comes out May 4, 2018.
